Hiam grew up in Habonim and has served on many of the Boards who continue to support the movement today. He has worked for The Jerusalem Report, Americans for Peace Now, Givat Haviva and Ameinu.

In retirement he is an Opinion Columnist for The Jewish Standard and his pieces can be found on the Times of Israel.
